Developmental and Behavioral Screening

What are the Tutorials at dbpeds org?

The main audience for the tutorials is health care professionals who want to track their progress in learning about a particular topic. All users can view the tutorial pages, but you need to register to track your progress and get reports on your account.

Tutorials consist of informational articles, as well as suggested activities. Logged in users can provide comments and feedback about the articles, and record time spent on reading the article or other activities.

Who provides the content?

Most of the content on the site was developed in conjunction with the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. Some material is borrowed from other organizations and used with their permission.

We invite individuals to submit new material that would be useful for training.

What do I do next?

You have several options.

  • If you have already registered, login using your username and password.
  • If you want to view the content without registering, login in as a Guest
  • If you want to use the tutorial with your training program (such as a pediatric residency), register and be sure to select the name of your training site. If it is not on the list, enter a name for the site so we can look it up. Be sure to communicate with your faculty to make sure they have also registered. In any case, you will be able to view and print your transcript.

I've registered. How do I get started?

You can get going immediately once you register. Your username must be unique. We will make an attempt to verify your email address and add you to the master contact list.

Choose a tutorial to work on. You may have been asked by faculty to do a particular tutorial. All the tutorials you work on will be included in your transcript.

Read the tutorial, and do activities if they are suggested. Browse related materials such as links. When you are done with a particular page, log your time using the form at the bottom (registered users only). Once you do this, that article will appear "checked" on the article list. You can still go back and add more time if that is relevant. Be sure to comment on the impact of the tutorial.

How do I document my work?

You document your work using the feedback form at the end of the articles. If your login session has expired, you will see a login box. You may have to log back in, and then complete the form.

Contact faculty at your program about their expectations about submitting documentation. If the faculty is a registered user, they will be able to view your transcript too.

Privacy

We have made many changes to ensure your privacy.

  • First, we do not release individually identifying information to outside groups, and do not sell your name to mailing lists.
  • We require a unique, verifiable email address. It is your responsibility to provide updates, and also to safeguard your email account.
  • We enforce some rules about passwords to make them harder to guess. Passwords are transmitted securely, and they are stored encrypted in our database. We can not read your password. We can read, and send, your password hint. If you request your hint by email, it is possible that it could be read by someone else.
  • We do log activity and may report on that activity in the aggregate. We will not report comparative information on individuals or programs by name without their explicit permission.
